2 glasses (his jumping on my arm caused me to drop them)

2 shirts

1 pair of dress pants

1 collar

1 garbage can, 18 times

New posts when the guys at the shop figure out how to install windows with a busted cd drive and a broken registry file that prevents any semblance of booting.

New laptop inc?

So, my laptop just fried, leaving me without any of my premade posts and brainstorms, and generally, all the content I was going to post this week.

yeah… updates will continue to be erratic…

fucking corrupted registry ;_;

So, you’ve decided to pick up WAR, and thats a pretty good choice, but how will you get started? One look at the character creation screen and you’re left in a tizzy, not knowing what you want to play… Theres so much class diversity! But some are similar! But not! Oh god! Well maybe this guide will help you decide.

You’ll notice that each class type has both an order and a destruction counterpart, and while I treat each as a pair, there are some pretty heavy differences between each. I highly recommend you try out both of the pair if you’re not already locked into a faction. If it sucks, you can always delete the character… Or not, after all, you’ve got 10 slots per server. Who knows, maybe you’ll want to play that class later on!

Chaos Magus and Dwarf Engineer – A defensive, ranged DPS class that focuses on group offense and summoning. You’ll notice with these guys that you can’t move your summons around so its best to carefully choose where to put your little buddy. Additionally, the magus is a caster, and the engineer uses a gun. If you don’t like one or the other, avoid it!

Goblin (Greenskin) Shaman and High Elf Archmage
– A powerful ranged healer which improves their healing by alternating between offensive spells and heals. In the Archmage’s case, casting offensively improves heal’s efficiency and vice versa whereas alternation improves the shaman’s cast speed instead.

Dark Elf Disciple of Khaine and Empire Warrior Priest – A melee healer which utilizes a currency gained through melee combat in order to let off its more powerful heals and attacks.

Chaos Zealot and Dwarf Rune Priest – A situational healer who uses marks or runes to grant their allies special abilities and bonuses.

Goblin (Greenskin) Squig Herder and High Elf White Lion
– A dps class which utilizes a mobile pet to increase their advantage in combat. The Squig Herder is a primarily ranged class whereas the white lion happily hacks their way through the enemy with a rather large axe.

Dark Elf Witch Elf and Empire Witch Hunter – A powerful melee dps class which uses stealth and combos to increase their damage to ludicrious levels.

Dark Elf Sorceror and Empire Bright Wizard – A pure-damage ranged dps class which uses a currency which will both increase their damage and the chance of causing damage to themselves.

Greenskin Black Orc and Dwarf Ironbreaker – A powerful tank with high wounds who becomes more powerful with every blow sustained.

Chaos Marauder and High Elf Shadow Warrior
– A tough dps class which changes their state to gain a foothold in combat. In the shadow warrior’s case, tactics are used to change between ranged and melee among other things, whereas the marauders mutates his offhand in order to do different types of damage and recieve different stat bonuses.

Chaos Chosen and High Elf Swordsmaster – An extremely tough tank with moderate hitpoints. In the Chosen’s case, curses are used to weaken all nearby enemies while bolstering allies within the same distance. The swordsmaster uses different stances and chains attacks to unleash increasingly powerful blows.

Hopefully you found this list useful, happy hunting!

Bane Shield

Welcome to bane shield, a blog all about Warhammer Online, gameplay as a chosen, and any other general crap that I come up with. Whether you’re looking for a guide on how you should spec your little demonic tank, or maybe just a rant about my dog, chances are Its going to be here!

Happy Reading,

If you’ve played warhammer online for any longer than 10 minutes, you know that gold sales are a serious problem. Not only are the never ending tells from level one characters absolutely infuriating, for the most part, these services don’t gain their ingame dough from legitimate methods!

Gold services gain their nigh-infinite stocks of gold through keyloggers and scams. Character power leveling? You’d better believe you just payed them 300 dollars in advance to steal your account,  change your password, and strip your characters. Buying gold? That probably belonged to a level 40 who worked his or her ass off to earn it, while you paypal all your cash to the guys that took it from them. Plain and simple, these services are the bane of fair play, and any general sense of decency and trust in any multiplayer game.

So, what has mythic done to stop it? Set up a clunky, slow, and gereally pathetic reporting process. Ill admit, it took blizzard nearly 2 years to implement their current ingame reporting system for World of Warcraft, and mythic is making great strides to restrict gold seller’s actions, but it all seems rather pathetic in comparison to what octane666 (and his team?)  have done.

Spammenot is an addon for warhammer online that everyone should be using. Heres how it works; It scans all tells for any little hint that it came from a gold seller, and if it does, blocks it before it shows up on a player’s chat window. Then it automatically reports the sender. The report includes a message stating that it is an autoreport from spammenot [in the minutely small chance that it mistakenly blocked and reported someone] and a direct quote of what the scum attempted to say to you.

Just in case you want to see how many folks you’re blocking, or exactly what you’re blocking, you can pull up their console by clicking a handy little button on the minimap and read all the blocked tells and autoreports for your session. In 1 week of having this addon, and about 10 hours /played, this godsend of an addon has blocked over 200 tells from gold sales with no mistaken reports whatsoever. Plain and simple, this addon is the greatest third-party improvement to an MMO that I have ever seen.

Which makes me wonder, ‘Why, in Raven Host’s glorious name is this not a default feature of the game?’ I mean, surely Mythic and EA are watching every little addon in the game for fear that someone is cheating (dont even get me started on EA’s paranoia…. hmmm, rant topic for later?). So why have the developers not taken a look at this addon and thought ‘yknow what? Lets contact this guy and ask to put this ingame’?

Honestly, I don’t think he’d mind. I develop themes and addons for a windows shell replacement called blackbox, and I’m honored every time anyone asks to use my stuff. Most small-time developers are like that, so why not give it a try? With some careful development, I think this addon could completely shut out gold sellers’ most effective advertisement method, and that could mean an end to gold selling in general.

Okay, so believe it or not, I’ve been making some real progress with the blog. I’ve been working on my own theme for the blog for some time now, but unfortunately, until I have the correct images, backgrounds, etc uploaded and written into my CSS file, you’ll be looking at this blue/black theme. Meanwhile, I’ll be trying to get some real content up.

My special lady works the thanksgiving shift tomorrow, so once dinner is cooked, im going to go sit around at the mall and work on my entries. Meanwhile, this is what i’m cooking tomorrow.

Turkey w/bacon (both manly and moist, I highly recommend it)

Mashed potatoes

Fan-freakin tastic gravy

Fresh Rolls

And my first ever attempt at a pumpkin pie… fingers crossed on thatun.

Anyhoo, there you go, a post… sure its not warhammer related, but heck… its my blog right?!

Either way, this week’s potential posts:

My take on warhammer online

Why a 10 week old puppy sucks (AKA, my dog is an asshole in the mornings) (RANT)

Also, im looking to add a section with links and reviews of all my favourite addons, but we’ll see some more of that later.
